GHP Named as a Top Place to Work in Nashville

We are excited to announce GHP has been recognized as one of the Nashville Business Journal’s 2024 Best Places to Work!

This recognition is based on feedback from employees about GHP’s culture, team effectiveness, work engagement and trust in leadership. It highlights our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and dynamic workplace where employees feel valued and empowered.

At GHP, we're all about making work a place you want to show up to every day. We want to give everyone the chance to grow personally and professionally. It's not just about individual development for us; we want our team to see how their work matters. By jumping into projects that boost health and well-being, our team helps create awesome communities. We're all about blending passion with purpose at GHP, making work not just a job, but a chance to truly impact others.

—Dominique Arrieta, AIA, President & CEO

Who We Are

Since its founding in Nashville in 1977, GHP continues to grow year after year, establishing a presence in almost every corner of the United States. We are masters at blending architecture, environmental, and construction services to create solutions for improving built spaces, but we care most about the people in them. We offer a holistic approach that helps clients tackle issues and bring their visions to life. We find it’s important to focus on prioritizing solutions over problems.

This past year, we've completed projects ranging from restoring historic buildings to jumping in on emergency responses for industrial mishaps. Our portfolio showcases expertise in managing diverse and challenging projects, including asbestos abatement in Alaskan facilities, crafting the longest bar at Uncle Nearest Distillery in Tennessee, and helping achieve WELL Platinum Certification for a senior living space in Manhattan. We handle intricate designs, funky smells, and water troubles, lending a hand to sectors like healthcare, government, education, senior living, and hospitality.

Putting People First: Embracing a Culture of Employee Growth

We know our people are the heart of our company with their dedication and passion driving our success. Each of our employees has a unique story to tell, whether it’s from starting in a temporary role and evolving to be a key team member or celebrating 35 years of employment. These personal growth journeys are what make our culture so special, shaping GHP into the company we know and love today.

Unlike most companies, we ask our employees, “What do you love to do?” We strive to place our people in roles where they find purpose and fulfillment in their work. With our mix of in-house experts, young industrial hygienists and emerging architects, everyone has access to top-notch mentorship opportunities.

Employees can embrace tackling new challenges and keep pushing boundaries to help them grow. Whether wanting to expand their skills across different areas or focus on deepening their expertise in one field, our team members have the autonomy to chart their own course.

Reviving Communities and Driving Sustainable Progress

Since its beginning, GHP has been a leader within the local communities we serve. When our founders moved the GHP office to downtown Nashville, they saw a past to honor and a future to be shaped. With the majority of downtown being rundown buildings and empty lots, they committed to helping revitalize the area. This resulted in 108 renovation and construction projects throughout Nashville. These efforts included award-winning landmarks and legacy projects such as The Hermitage Hotel, Union Station Hotel, and First Horizon Park.

This dedication to community impact continues today through initiatives such as the 2nd Avenue Rebuild and the revitalization of the Nashville Fairgrounds. Whether overseeing the recovery efforts in downtown Nashville following the 2020 bombing or transforming the Fairgrounds into a dynamic hub, our focus remains on community revitalization, historical preservation, and fostering sustainable, inclusive progress.

A Few of Our Favorite Things About GHP

1. As CEO since 2015 and Owner since 2016, Dominique Arrieta, AIA, has steered GHP's growth across three core business divisions: Architecture, Environmental, and Construction Services. Her visionary leadership not only diversified GHP but also led to its certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE).

2. Located in the heart of Nashville’s Art District, our downtown office is surrounded by rich local history. Before we moved into our building in 1989, our office space was used for a variety of different businesses such as a dime store, ice cream parlor, dance academy, and photographer studio. Art has always been a huge part of our firm and we continue to support the local Downtown Nashville Arts Scene with our wonderful partners Chauvet.

3. We make hazmat suits look GOOD.

4. Our team was one of the first leading experts in asbestos abatement. Our founders even wrote the book on managing indoor air quality!

5. Our team will go to great lengths to give back to our communities. Like how our founder, Ron Gobbell, raised money for Special Olympics Tennessee by rappelling down the Nashville City Center in 2012.

6. For over three decades, we've upheld a tradition of designing and sending annual t-shirts to our team, clients, and partners to commemorate our valued connections over the years. From our Rock’n’Roll World Tour, to a taste of Tennessee Whiskey, we love to share our passion for Happy Buildings.

What Our Employees Are Saying

“The thing I appreciate most about GHP is they put in the time and effort to train us. If errors are made during a project, the leadership here prioritizes helping you in learning and growing from those mistakes rather than penalizing you. I can count on my team to be here to help me grow and learn.”

—Gerardo Prudhomme, Industrial Hygienist Technician

“My favorite part of GHP is getting to work with different people throughout our industry. Being here has made me into the person and professional I am today.”

—Lauren Wuthrich, Project Controls Specialist

“We have a smaller architectural team which means I get to learn and experience a lot that I wouldn’t be able to at another larger firm. In one year, I have grown more than I ever imagined from receiving hands-on opportunities.”

—Nikki Steele, Interior Designer I

"I don't have to go to work, I want to go to work.

I care about what I'm doing and believe in why we do what we do. I also consider myself a jack of all trades because of the experience I’ve been provided while at GHP. I’m thankful to have a job that’s never boring.”

—Earl Landree, Industrial Hygienist

“The most fun part of my job is going onsite and watching our work come to life!”

—Theresa Lind, Architecture Studio Manager
